A Raia é a fronteira entre Portugal e Espanha, mas é muito mais, é História e histórias, é gente e costumes herdados de gerações, é de uma beleza natural extraordinária.
Longe das grandes cidades ficou um património intocado, vestígios de povoados pré-históricos e dos seus monumentos em pedra, fortificações e templos dos vários povos que conquistaram e defenderam estas terras a que chamaram suas, Celtas, Iberos, Romanos, Germânicos, Islâmicos, Castelhanos e agora Portugueses.
Da mistura de todos os que por aqui ficaram resulta uma identidade cultural única que é mantida pelo povo da Raia, nos seus costumes e tradições, no seu artesanato e gastronomia, na arquitectura e no falar, mas principalmente na sua relação com a terra.
Para as gentes da Raia a família, os vizinhos e a terra são o mais importante. Os ritmos são os do campo, das estações, do semear e do colher. Todos têm a sua horta e os seus animais, sempre dispostos a ajudar, a dar uma couve, umas laranjas ou um dedo de conversa.
O objectivo deste Blog é a divulgação da Raia alentejana, é trazer pessoas para estas paragens, venha visitar-nos e se quiser…… fique.

The Raia is the borderlands between Portugal and Spain and much more, it is History and stories, it is people and customs inherited from generations, it is of extraordinary natural beauty.
Away from the big cities we have an untouched heritage, remains of prehistoric settlements and their stone monuments, fortifications and temples of the various peoples who conquered and defended this land they called home, Celts, Iberians, Romans, Germans, Islamic, Castilian and now Portuguese.
The mixture of all those who settled here results in a unique cultural identity that is retained by the people of the Raia, in their customs and traditions, handicrafts and gastronomy, architecture and language, but mainly in their relation to the land.
To the people of the Raia the family, the neighbors and the land are more important. The rhythms are those of the countryside, the seasons, the time to plant or harvest. All have their gardens and animals, always willing to help, to give a cabbage, a few oranges or a bit of conversation.
This Blogs purpose is sharing the Alentejo Raia, to bring people to this region, come and visit us and if you want ... stay.
